Dr. Andra Mihnea
Dr. Mihnea was born in Romania in 1976. From 1995 to 2001, she attended the University of Pharmacy and Medicine, Faculty of Dentistry in Timisoara, Romania. She received a merit scholarship throughout the duration of the six year program. She graduated in 2001 and was awarded the Degree of Medical Doctor, specialized in Dentistry.
Following her graduation, Dr. Mihnea started a one year internship program, while practicing dentistry in a private practice at the same time.
In 2002 Dr. Mihnea and her husband followed their dream of moving to Canada.
Upon coming to Canada she took all necessary steps to continue doing what she loves the most-dentistry - and started the process of re-qualifying her degree. There are thousands of foreign-trained dentists in Canada and only about 60 are admitted into the program each year. However, her solid theoretical knowledge, excellent clinical skills and passion for dentistry made her successful in being accepted at one of the most prestigious school in Canada- University of Toronto- and, eventually, graduating with Honours in 2006.
During her time working as a dentist both in Romania and Canada, Dr. Mihnea provided dental treatment to patients of all ages and conditions. She values exceptional clinical care and takes pride in the special attention she gives to all patients at Danube Dental Clinic.
She is particularly fond of working with children and their parents to overcome any fear or apprehension and develop a positive, nurturing relationship that would lead to a lifetime of excellent oral health.
She also takes special interest in the area of cosmetic dentistry, providing a wide range of inexpensive conservative cosmetic options to help her patients improve their smiles.
In her effort to ensure that the highest standards of quality patient care are maintained, she continues to participate in advanced study courses in all dental fields, especially in Restorative and Cosmetic Dentistry.
She is a member of the Waterloo-Wellington Dental Society, Ontario Dental Association and Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario.
When it comes to hobbies, it’s hard to separate her personal and professional life.
Coming from a family of doctors, Dr. Mihnea has a true passion for learning and developed a special interest in medicine from an early age, becoming an avid reader of health-related books. She also loves art and spends hours drawing portraits and landscapes. Dr. Mihnea remembers how dentistry seemed the obvious choice for her when the time came to choose a career path. In her own words: “dentistry is a perfect match between medicine and art”. Creating beautiful smiles is Dr. Mihnea’s true passion and she considers herself very lucky to be part of a profession that she loves so much and brings her so much joy and so many rewards. She believes in inspiring others to follow their dreams and even inspired her younger brother to becoming a dentist himself!
She also loves reading and studying different cultures and languages. She is fluent in Romanian, English, French and Spanish. Traveling and visiting with her family in Romania is her favourite past-time during the summer time.
